Lynne

Mental Health OT / Counsellor

lynee

I completed my Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) at Curtin University in 2013. Since then I’ve worked in a range of rural and remote settings in WA, from Broome in the Kimberley, to the beautiful South West . The majority of my experience lies within the disability and mental health sectors. I’ve been lucky enough to work with people from all walks of life and age groups, attempting to always be culturally mindful and sensitive in my practice. I have a strong interest for working with Autistic girls and women, and I’m passionate about mental health. I’ve particularly enjoyed working with children, adolescents and families to support mental wellbeing.

As an occupational therapist (OT), I am interested in all the daily activities / tasks (occupations) that a person wants or needs to do, in order to purposefully and meaningfully engage in life. I holistically explore a person’s life experience: looking at physical, emotional, cognitive, environmental, cultural and spiritual needs. I am always inspired by the unique stories and narratives of those I work with, and truly believe therapeutic relationships are a two-way street. I have grown immensely from understanding and learning together with the people I’ve connected with. I love to utilise nature as a therapeutic tool and am known to enjoy jumping on trampolines or walking dogs during sessions.

I’m so grateful to live in such a beautiful part of the world in South West WA, and like to make the most of bush and beach time where I can. Some favourite ‘occupations’ are: weekend beach adventures with the family, running in nature trails with my energetic Kelpie dog, en joying the sunshine in our garden with a cup of tea and cooking.
